Joliet Named Tree City USA for 28th Consecutive Year
Friday, April 26, 2019 has been proclaimed Arbor Day in the City of Joliet with an official celebration taking place Friday, April 26, 2019 at Grand Prairie Elementary School, 3100 Caton Farm Rd. Students will participate in an Arbor Day Celebration and take part in a tree planting ceremony.
Winners of the “Trees are Terrific” Arbor Day Poster Contest from Grand Prairie Elementary School are:

Second Grade –Angelina Alvarez and Abby Cavenaile
Third Grade –Kailynn Mariscal
Fourth Grade –Angelina Truhlar
Fifth Grade –Olivia Cavenaile
Winning posters will be on display at Joliet City Hall’s main lobby (on the first floor) until April 25th and at Grand Prairie School on Arbor Day and the following week.
The National Arbor Day Foundation recently recognized the City of Joliet for achieving the designation of “Tree City USA” for the 28th consecutive year. 2018 was the 4th year of a 10 year growing contract that provided funds to plant 1,000 trees in Joliet’s public areas.
