Chicago Street Corridor Progress Update

Work that has been addressed through Friday, August 29th:

  • Concrete elements in the streetscape in front of the library are now in place
  • ComEd has completed advance preparations for providing power to the new transformer on Ottawa Street to provide power to the City Square improvements
  • Topsoil has been placed in many of the planter areas within the square
  • Sidewalks along the west side of Chicago Street in front of the square are now installed
  • Subgrade for the access road within the park has been cut to grade

Work that will be addressed the week of September 1st:

  • Planter curbs and brick sub-base will be placed on the west side of Chicago Street between Van Buren and Clinton
  • Electrical conduit and lighting installations will continue in the City Square Park area
  • New curb for the extension of Van Buren Street into the City Square will be placed
  • 2-hour parking restrictions along Chicago Street between Jefferson and Cass will be enforced, to allow for required work elements to be performed.  Parking remains available in the Ottawa Street and Scott Street parking garages
