City Public Works crews continue working throughout Joliet to clean up debris following the recent storms. With more than 200 reports of storm damage to parkway trees immediately following Tuesday's storm, Public Works is prioritizing large tree debris that may impact the safety of roadways and sidewalks.
Residents can help keep cleanup efforts moving by following these guidelines:
- Private property debris must be placed at the curb BY TUESDAY, AUGUST 18. Crews will not return for private property storm debris placed at the curb after this date.
- Use your yard waste bins first for branches and other storm debris from your property. Anything that does not fit should be placed at the curb by August 18.
- Please be patient if crews remove only part of the debris on your street. Different types and sizes of debris require different equipment, so crews may need to make multiple passes through an area. If debris remains after an initial pickup, please allow a few days for crews to return with the appropriate equipment.
Due to the widespread damage, storm debris cleanup is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete citywide.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our crews work throughout the community.
