JOLIET, Ill. — Beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026, petition packets for candidacy for Mayor and Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 full-term (4 years) City Council positions are available in the Joliet City Clerk’s Office (Joliet Municipal Building, 150 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60432).
Federal and Illinois law imposes qualifications to be eligible to submit a petition for candidacy and to serve as an elected official. Candidates should review applicable laws to determine whether they meet the required qualifications. Compliance with the applicable laws regarding having the petitions for candidacy signed and submitted with other required documents is the sole responsibility of the candidate and not the City of Joliet or any of its employees.
Candidacy petitions must be filed with the Joliet City Clerk’s Office between Monday, November 16, 2026, and Monday, November 23, 2026, during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Joliet City Clerk’s Office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2026, to accept petitions for candidacy.
