The Joliet Police Department has operated its own Child Passenger Safety Seat (CPS) program since 1999. Since its inception, the program has conducted thousands of safety seat checks/installations, as well as hundreds of public information sessions at multiple locations throughout Joliet. The Joliet Police Department has also hosted and instructed dozens of certified CPS classes, training new Safety Seat Technicians and re-certifying current Safety Seat Technicians.
The Joliet Police Department had numerous certified CPS Technicians and three certified instructor/senior checkers. The department occasionally holds safety seat checks throughout the city, more often in the warmer months. During each of the checks, informational materials are distributed and citizens are provided with opportunities for both verbal instruction and hands-on participation.
As a free service to the community, the Joliet Police Department also provides one-on-one child seat inspections. These individual inspections can be scheduled by completing and submitting an online request form. After submitting the request form, you will be contacted by the program coordinator (or designee) to schedule an appointment with a certified safety seat technician.
