Get the Lead Out – Joliet’s Lead Water Service Inventory & Replacement Program

The City of Joliet has initiated a lead water service inventory and replacement program.  Learn more about lead in water and what the City is doing about it by reviewing these Frequently Asked Questions.

The lead water service inventory, which is required to be completed by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, will target homes constructed prior to the 1940s.  These homes are targeted because Joliet banned the use of lead as a material for water services in the late 1930s.  Homes that are identified as having lead water service lines will qualify for free water testing and the City’s lead water service line replacement cost sharing program.  Please review the Lead Water Service Inventory & Replacement Program Brochure for more information.
