The Joliet Fire Department started an Advance Cardiac Resuscitation program in 2020 to increase the survivability of cardiac arrests in the City of Joliet. The goal of this plan is to achieve a 50% out of hospital survivability rate. We have more than doubled our save rate in the field with this program and now we need you. Early bystander CPR by trained practitioners has been shown to nearly double survivability. The instruction of non-fire department personnel increases both awareness and readiness within the community, all of which plays a vital role in the chain of survival for heart attack victims. It is critical that we train as many citizens in CPR as possible.

The Joliet Fire Department’s CPR/AED and First Aid certification programs teach residents and healthcare providers how to effectively deliver First Aid and CPR and how to correctly use an AED in accordance with current American Heart Association guidelines.

All courses are taught by Joliet firefighters certified by the American Heart Association and are held at Joliet Fire Department station 1 located at 101 E Clinton St, and station 10 located at 1599 John D. Paige Dr.

These classes are only open to City of Joliet residents currently and are free of charge.
