Something extraordinary is coming to life in the heart of Joliet. The “Unity Dome,” a 19-foot-wide stainless-steel sculpture by internationally recognized artist Sijia Chen, will stand as the signature centerpiece of the new City Square — a space created for everyone to gather, connect, and celebrate our community.

Artist Sijia Chen recently spent five days in Joliet, learning about our city’s history and vision for the future, and leading community workshops with residents and local schools. Her time here has already inspired ideas that will shape the final design of the Unity Dome.
