Community Inputs Events & Activities

During the City Square Design process, the project team held:

  • Two Community Open Houses
  • Two Public Comments periods
  • One Community Survey
  • Two City Council presentations
  • Several meetings with stakeholder groups
  • Three Community Input Group Meetings

We had over 100 people attend these public meetings, received over 60 public comments, and received over 700 public survey responses.

Throughout the public engagement process, the community shared their vision for City Square. Joliet residents want to see a City Square that celebrates Joliet's unique character and prioritizes amenities for daily residents such as a water feature, green space, a small stage and shaded seating. Many also wanted a flexible space that accommodates a variety of activities, such as a skating rink, holiday tree, food trucks accommodations, and more.

Summaries of these community input events and activities and materials can be viewed through the weblinks below.
