The City of Joliet is looking for the perfect Christmas tree to be the centerpiece of the new City Square in downtown Joliet this holiday season.

Tree Nomination Details

We're accepting nominations via email at roadways@joliet.gov from Monday, September 22, 2025, to Friday, October 24, 2025.

If your tree is selected, it will be removed at no cost to you. The donating family will also be recognized and invited to participate in the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 28, 2025. The tree will be on display throughout the holiday season until January 11, 2026.

Tree Requirements

To be considered, your tree must meet the following criteria:

  • Height: At least 30 feet tall.

  • Location: Within 50 miles of downtown Joliet.

  • Species: Must be a Norway Spruce or Fir. Pine trees are not eligible due to their lack of sturdiness.

How to Nominate

When you submit your nomination email, please include the following information:

  • Your name, address, phone number, and email address.

  • A brief description of why you believe your tree should be Joliet's official Christmas tree, including any unique history or background.

  • At least two photos of the tree: one close-up and one taken from a distance.

As Mayor Terry D’Arcy said, "The lighting of Joliet’s Christmas tree is a treasured tradition that brings people together from across the city. We’re excited to select a tree that reflects our community spirit and pride, and we invite residents to be part of this celebration by nominating a tree of their own."
