Community Development

The Community Development Department brings together the critical functions that help drive the city's growth, in particular the use of land and land-use relationships, while having regard for its impact on the economic, social, and cultural well-being of the community.

Through a citywide lens, the Community Development Department promotes Joliet's businesses and economic growth, advises on local plans and critical planning decisions, brings businesses and neighborhoods together, and helps build a more equitable, livable, and sustainable city.
