Annual Joliet Historic Preservation Award

The City of Joliet bestows an Annual Joliet Historic Preservation Award that recognizes properties that have undergone recent exterior and/or interior preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, or sympathetic additions as well as people who exhibit dedication to the field of historic preservation.

Nominations for this award are due April 10th, 2026.

Haley Mansion for their interior and exterior preservation work of the Patrick C. Haley Mansion at 17 S. Center Street.

Homeowners of 900 North Raynor for their restoration of the front façade of their home.

2024

Joliet Railroad Museum project (90 E. Jefferson Street) – for celebrating Joliet’s railroad legacy and offering an unrivaled vantage point from which to view contemporary rail traffic after years of dedicated planning by the City of Joliet, Joliet Area Historical Museum and local railroad enthusiasts.

St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church (310 N. Broadway) - for their interior and exterior preservation work, which included a new roof and interior restoration to the sanctuary ceiling.

Joliet Public Library (150 N. Ottawa Street)– for the sensitive interior and exterior preservation work performed during the 2021-2022 remodeling project.

Ken and Irene Odorizzi – for their dedication to preserving the history of the former Planinsek Grocery and Meat Market at 1314 Elizabeth Street.

State Representative Larry Walsh Junior – for his advocacy efforts in securing stabilization funds for the Old Joliet Prison.
