Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Thank you for your interest in participating in the City of Joliet CERT Program and helping your community become safer and more resilient.
Participation in CERT is a substantial volunteer commitment requiring initial and ongoing training and call-out participation. Membership requirements include:
- Joliet resident
- Age 18 or older
- Pass a basic criminal background check
- Valid Driver’s License or ID
Disqualifiers for CERT service:
- A felony conviction in the last five years
- Any pending criminal charges
- Registered sex offender or conviction of a crime which requires registration
- Mentally incompetent as adjudicated by the court
Training requirements include a 12-week academy that meets once per week.
